Marisela Figueroa
Hello, my name is Marisela Figueroa. I currently go to Bayside High School and am a part of the Health Sciences Academy because I would like to work in the medical field. The medical field has always been a huge influence on my life. As I grow older and gain more access to the knowledge about the medical field I start deciding where I want to work. As I start planning my future career, I know I would love to work in an area involving kids. Pediatrics would be great for me because I love working with kids and I have experience with small kids because I help a lot at my church with the nursery and assisting teachers with Sunday school. I also love to help others, I am always looking for opportunities to help and volunteer because it is something I enjoy doing. I have volunteered at school, including the Freshman Orientation and the Health Fair. I am also now a dance teacher at my church for the girl’s age’s three to ten. I enjoy studying and gaining new understandings on all kinds of topics I encounter daily. I take school’s education seriously and I commit to it to my fullest because I plan to succeed in my life goals.
A career that really interests me is a Pediatric Rehabilitation Physician. Rehabilitation physicians help patients with physical disabilities, injuries or pain and help them restore normal function. I enjoy spending time with children and this field would enable me to do that. I would love to know that my hard work could change a young child’s life forever. For this certain job, you need a lot of patience and a positive attitude, and I believe I would be able to provide both. I have gained knowledge this year on the body systems, muscle systems and skeletal system. I am also Healthcare Provider CPR and First Aid trained. This year I have also maintained my grades with an A and B average, earning Honor Roll all year. I competed at a HOSA competition and earned 4th place in the Creative Problem Solving event. I made the Dance Company Sapphires at my studio as well. I am always busy afterschool but I make time for my studies and plan on working hard for the rest of my school years.
